There’s something special about golf in that it is so individualized yet the experience of playing is only enhanced when there are others around you. Golf is the one sport that can be enjoyed while playing with different generations, genders, and skills. In no other sport can a 80 year old compete with an 18 year old high school standout. Golf transcends all differences and it is my belief that the more golfers we have in the world the better the world will be. Rarely is it that we can have a teenager spend four hours without being on their phone,  where else do brothers and sisters compete against each other without it ending in a screaming match, or can two people who never met each other become lifelong friends after a random tee time pairing. Golf is a game for all and I want to help bring it to all.

Golf has challenged every player since its creation, it's a game that can never be perfected. It’s a double edged sword. That challenge is what keeps people loving the game for their entire lives, but it drives many to such frustration that they never play it or worse, give it up. The reason there is such frustration playing golf is that the way we learn or improve our game is fundamentally flawed. As a teaching professional I make a living helping people improve their golf games, yet everyone that comes to me for a lesson is only looking to improve their swings. Golf is typically taught trying to create the perfect golf swing rather than simply trying to improve the results you get from your swing. This is both a difficult and tedious way to improve or learn golf. Every other sport teaches their players to improve results with the mechanics they already have. Basketball players don’t practice free throws by breaking down their shot on video, quarterbacks don’t improve their throwing motion by messing with their grip.Yet, golf instruction tends to only focus on technical improvement rather than skill development, oftentimes leading to a prettier looking swing that results in the same score. With Legends of the Links we know that the only true path to improvement comes from practice, but we do not want players just hitting ball after ball in boring repetition. Golf is a game not a job, therefore your practice should not be work but a game as well. In order to help you improve we wanted to create the most fun golf practice game possible, something that can get families excited to practice together, something that makes spending an hour or two at the driving range a desirable experience, something that makes practice as fun as actually playing.

This is why Legends of the Links was created, its sole purpose is to make learning and improving your golf game more fun. The 72 trading cards were designed by Jamie Hoke, a PGA award winning teaching professional, with each character containing its own golf practice mini game. These mini games are meant to test your golf skills and push them to their limits. Each card belongs to one of the four tribes; Power, Control, Consistency, and Magic, and within these tribes the games help to develop those fundamental skills. Game-based golf practice is proven to be the optimal way to learn because it helps players focus by requiring only short chucks of attention, so no golf ball is wasted. It puts a goal for every single shot you hit so you know how well you are actually performing, not just how good the swing feels. It mimics more closely how you will feel on the course through the competition of the games, so the improvement you see on the practice range goes with you on the course. Most importantly it is enjoyable so that golf practice becomes something you look forward to rather than dread. With Legends of the Links trading cards we want players to stop practicing and start playing. It is this better version of practice that I believe you will see rapid improvement in your game and reap all the benefits that a lifetime of golf will yield.

If you have read this far and you believe that these trading cards can help you or someone you know start or deepen their passion for golf then we want you to join our fight against boring practice. As a reward for reading all of this and to hopefully get you to join our mission here is a 50% discount code.
